A key project in 2006 was graphic design for the B.C. Child and Youth Review. The review by the Hon. Ted Hughes was a ground-breaking, all-encompassing look at B.C.’s child welfare system which resulted in a 180-page report that changed the face of how children are supported in B.C.
On very tight timelines and under intense pressure, Kingfisher Studios took this report from a final draft to a polished, finished product which received public and media compliment for its easy-to-read, clean look and sensible layout. The graphic design was of such superior quality that the Vancouver Sun used the cover graphic, created by Kingfisher, as its logo for its four-day series of articles on the Hughes Review.
Another outstanding, high profile project was Kingfisher’s work on the website for the Amalgamation of the Victoria and Esquimalt police forces. This very public and controversial initiative required communications tools that cleanly and clearly got the message out to the public and media, as to why joining the two forces together was a good idea. Kingfisher created a site that was easy to navigate, interesting to the eye, and positively conveyed the work of the police department. The website quickly became a reliable source of information for the public, with an extraordinarily high number of hits per day. Kingfisher also constantly refreshed content throughout the project, and contributed ongoing suggestions as to ways to improve not only the site but the way the amalgamation was being portrayed. This strategic approach is an added bonus Kingfisher brings.
“Working with Kingfisher principle Jim LeGuilloux is a genuine pleasure. Jim is always willing to go the extra mile, and unfortunately for him, this can often mean long hours, due to extreme deadlines. He demonstrates a work ethic that shows immense respect for deadlines, whatever it takes. Jim is unfailingly pleasant, no matter the work pressure or timelines being faced.
Q Communications is a consulting agency that the B.C. government has repeatedly turned to for the past 15 years, when it needs to get its message out on controversial, public, high-profile issues. A huge part of the success of Q Communications is due to its partnership on projects with Kingfisher Studios. Outstanding!”
Sincerely,
Marg Charlton, President, Q Communications
